Living the dream

Image
Because eating out diapers is a way of life of a pet goat Alex scared me sitting like this last night. I thought by was dead. Apparently laying with your head like this is comfortable for a goat. Who knew?!  Snuggling with AB before bed Just being a goat!  We love our goat mommy! Playing in the yard and just being a goat! The humans are reading and AB is trying to sleep Ethan holding AB Alex snuggling with Logan! Again just being goats! Mommy it’s our bedtime. Good night!! GUYS!! I am living my dream! Of course I would love more land but I HAVE GOATS! I get to watch them be goats. I get to play with them, and feed them, and watch them grow. I get to dress them, I get to sleep with them and I get to be a goat mom.  Granted, there are the downsides to having goats. My backyard smells like a barn due to the wet hay, my house is not clean and messes with my anxiety, I have to clean up a ton of goat poop. I have more laundry to do, which is never ending as it was, I have no mo...

Excuse me, are you A-aron Burr, sir

Alex : Excuse me, are you Aaron Burr, Sir AB : That depends, who's asking. Alex : Oh, sure, sir. I'm Alexander Hamilton, I have been looking for you... It started with one goat, on Valentine's Day.  We named him A-aron Burr. Because we LOVE the musical Hamilton. For short we call him AB, or little bit, or A-aron. Or just "goat-goat" But by Friday of that week, he was not eating well, seemed lethargic, not drinking and I thought he was lonely. So...I had just gotten paid, convinced my husband AB was lonely and needed a friend. And so we got AB a goat friend!! We named in Alexander Hamilton (again going with the Hamilton theme) and I think they like each other! I know I thought I didn't need the second goat, but now I understand, GET THE SECOND GOAT!! AB is eating more, they sleep together, Alex is a bully and head butts him all the time, but they seem happy. Especially, outside, as long as someone is with them. I never thought I would own goats, didn't wa...

Things I never realized I needed for a goat

Having a goat for a pet is a totally new experience for me. And my family. I've had dogs and cats before, hermit crabs. "Normal" household pets, but never a goat. So here are the things I've gotten since becoming a goat mom. I'm sure there will be more to add, but this is what I have gotten in the days leading up to getting the goat and since.  Goat house and bedding Milk replacement, bottles, nipples Hay, wood chips Goat feed, treats Diapers, belly bands, female period pads (I use always super pads) Clothes a diaper bag Containers for food on the go, a collapsible water bowl and a led Obviously, he needs a house, so John built him a goat house with the help of Logan and Ethan. Then we lined it with hay; two types, alfalfa and wheat straw.   Since we got him as a baby, we needed milk replacement and bottles and nipples. Granted, he does not like this replacement milk, but I force feed him some hoping to get him to like it It's been 3 days, he still hates it.  ...

Valentines Day Surprise

I found out my husband and my boss were working together. But not in the way you would think. They were conspiring against me along with my daughter to...bring home my baby goat!! Yes. I now have an inside/outside baby goat who was born January 12, 2023. Want to hear the story? Here goes... My husband took me to Biltmore about 2 years ago and I fell in love with the goats. Ever since then I have been begging my husband to get me a goat, and I would always get the same answer, "We don't have land" "We said we didn't want any pets in the new house" "No" Well, that was until about 2 weeks ago when I stopped by the goat house on the way home and the couple were feeding the baby goats and they told me that they were selling their male goat for $100. I was ecstatic! But I didn't buy him then, I did the responsible thing and asked my husband first and he said... "ok." Well this was Saturday and I worked Sunday, BUT he and my children went t...
